The live-streaming giant Twitch has recently made public its announcement to remove the PogChamp emote, used by viewers as a sign of excitement in a stream chat. The company cited "statements from the face of the emote encouraging further violence after what took place in the Capitol today."

PogChamp has grown tremendously since first added to Twitch in 2012, as it's commonly spammed elsewhere other than Twitch. This move comes as quite a surprise, considering the growth of PogChamp in recent years.

Pog and the Capitol riots may be a sign that things will not improve this year, but let's hope for the best.
